Narrower the Future, Broader the Past
In the Ducks Crossing trilogy of children’s adventure books, Alison was 12 years old and the Hawk, Meg, Chaz and Lily several years younger. The books were set in the 1950s on the central coast of New South Wales. As the crew came to the end of their time together in the village and waterways, they made a final gesture: they filled a Time Capsule and buried it in a secret place. Now, 50 years later, with their lives closer to the end than to the beginning, they come back to Ducks Crossing to reminisce, and to see if they can retrieve the Time Capsule and bring it up to date with stories from their adult lives.
